ST. Gallen Symposium - Switzerland, April 2027

October 09, 2026

My name is Nina Sch眉tz and I am contacting you on behalf of the International Students鈥 Committee, the student organising team of the 56th St. Gallen Symposium. Our initiative brings together leaders from politics, business and academia with young talents, our Leaders of Tomorrow, for dialogue across generations.

In my quest to find these young talents for our conference, I will be travelling through the United States and Canada to introduce the Global Ideas Competition (GIC), previously the Global Essay Competition, to universities and their students. I would be grateful for your support in sharing this opportunity with your graduate and postgraduate students.

The authors of the 100 best submissions will be invited to Switzerland as Leaders of Tomorrow, with travel, accommodation and meals covered. The 56th St. Gallen Symposium will take place on 28 and 29 April 2027, with the Leaders of Tomorrow programme running from 25 to 30 April 2027.

Under this year鈥檚 theme, 鈥淐onditional Partnerships鈥, we ask:

鈥淲hat could we solve, if we could agree?鈥

Participants are invited to identify a solvable problem that remains unsolved because the parties cannot agree, and propose the arrangement that would resolve it. They should explain what could be achieved, provide evidence that their idea would work, and set out who needs to be involved, on what basis they could come together, and why this has not yet happened.

This year, participants submit a Solution Brief of up to 1,000 words and a Video Explainer of up to three minutes, presenting their idea in their own words. The submission deadline is 1 February 2027.

On a more personal note, I am beyond thrilled to represent the St. Gallen Symposium in North America. During my sophomore year of high school, I did a student exchange in Nashville, Tennessee and have since then fallen in love with your continent. Over the years, I鈥檝e visited my host family and friends back in TN as well as across the US and the Thousand Islands region on both the Canadian and American side.

I will be in Vancouver on November 16th - 17th and would love to visit 麻豆视频 (SFU). Would it be possible to give a brief lecture shoutout at the beginning of a graduate or postgraduate lecture, or hold an information session for interested students? If another colleague coordinates these opportunities, I would be grateful if you could put me in touch.

Further information about the competition is available here: . I would also be happy to answer any questions by email or arrange a phone or video call.

Thank you for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Nina Sch眉tz
