Medical Insurance for Teaching and Research Assistants

Medical insurance is an employee benefit for teaching assistants, tutor markers and sessional instructors through the Teaching Support Staff Union (TSSU). Coverage is not automatic. Upon arrival, you will need to enroll through Â鶹ÊÓƵHuman Resources to receive benefits. If you have a TSSU appointment in your first term, please visit for more information.

On November 15, 2019, Â鶹ÊÓƵ entered into an agreement with the Teaching Support Staff Union (TSSU) to make eligible research assistants (RAs) employees of the University by May 2020. All updates about the next steps in the transition of eligible RAs to employees of the university will be posted by Â鶹ÊÓƵHuman Resources as soon as they are available.
