Hydrogeology Facilities
Hydrogeology Facilities
The hydrogeology research lab is equipped with PC workstations and state-of-the-art Flow and Transport modelling software (including Visual MODFLOW Flex, FEFLOW, MIKE SHE), Geological modeling software (Leapfrog, Petrel), and Hydrochemical Modelling and Visualization software (including PHREEQCI, Geochemist’s Workbench, and Aquachem),
Â鶹ÊÓƵresearchers have access to platform.
Other hydrogeology-related programs include (e.g., AquiferTest, UnSat Suite Plus).
General software packages include ESRI ARCMap, MSOffice.
Hydrogeology Field Equipment
Field equipment includes 2 Grundfos pumps, a variety of dataloggers (pressure transducers, temperature loggers), a Flowtracker2 and other mechanical flow meters, a Solinst Model 407 Integra bladder pump and portable compressor, 2 Honda generators, YSI logger, multiple water level tapes, Eijkelkamp flow cell, Orion 3, 4 and 5 Star meters with pH, Eh, EC and DO electrodes, Hach digital titrator, Hach DR2800 portable spectrophotometer and 2 pressure filtration units.
We also have a thermal infrared camera (FLIR SC7650P) equipped with 50mm and 100mm lenses, as well as a collection of basic survey equipment, field laptops, and camping supplies.
Earth Sciences faculty at Â鶹ÊÓƵhave also assembled a wide variety of geophysical instruments, including a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) unit, Electrical Resistivity Imaging system, EM-31, Magnetometer, and 24 Channel SmartSeis.
Analytical Facilities
Through collaboration with Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of British Columbia , Â鶹ÊÓƵEarth Science faculty and their students have access to a wide variety of state-of-the-art analytical equipment that is operated at the as well as at SFU.
