Post-Graduate Medical Education (PGME)

Residency Interview Accommodations

Applicants invited to participate in the Â鶹ÊÓƵStephens School of Medicine’s Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) residency interview process who require disability-related accommodations may request this through the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL).

Requesting Accommodations for Residency Interviews

CAL reviews accommodation requests in accordance with Â鶹ÊÓƵPolicy, including but not limited to GP26. Accommodations are designed to remove functional barriers while maintaining the integrity of the interview process.

Applicants are encouraged to contact CAL as soon as possible after receiving their interview invitation to allow sufficient time to review and arrange accommodations. Please see the deadlines provided below.

Deadline to submit PGME Interview Accommodation Requests: The last day to request an interview accommodation for the 2027 CaRMs cycle is Friday, January 8th, 2027.

How to Submit an Interview Accommodation Request

Applicants can contact CAL to discuss their accommodation needs and the documentation required to support their request.

To request accommodations for the virtual interview process, applicants must:

1.Complete the CAL MMI Accommodation Request Form

2.Email the completed form and any required supporting documentation to caladmin@sfu.ca. In your email, please include that you are seeking accommodations for PGME interview admissions.

Documentation requirements are outlined in the MMI Accommodation Request Documentation Guidance. In many cases, documentation may be provided using the CAL MMI Verification of Disability Form completed by a qualified assessor.

Important

If you experience a new injury, illness, or diagnosis after the deadline, please contact CAL as soon as possible. CAL and the Â鶹ÊÓƵStephens School of Medicine will make reasonable efforts to explore available options.

Please do not submit medical documentation or accommodation requests to the Stephen’s School of Medicine. All disability-related information must be submitted directly to the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL).

MMI accommodations apply only to the admissions process. If an offer has been received and accepted, please contact CAL if seeking accommodations relating to Residency training.

If applicants are seeking accommodations for admissions at organizations or institutions other than SFU, please connect directly with the institution.

Confidentiality

Information and documentation provided in support of an accommodation request will be treated as confidential and shared only as necessary to arrange and implement approved accommodations.

Medical or diagnostic information is not shared with interviewers or admissions committee members.
