Â鶹ÊÓƵ

Â鶹ÊÓƵalumni are more than change makers in communities around the world—they’re catalysts for progress helping shape what’s next for their alma mater.

The Â鶹ÊÓƵAlumni Council exemplifies how our graduates bring their diverse professional expertise, lived experiences, and leadership to influence and support SFU’s strategic initiatives.

Fueled by the same passion and creativity that defined their time as students, Council members are now accomplished professionals dedicated to expanding SFU’s impact and building meaningful, lasting connections among alumni and the university.

A year of growth and impact

Over the past year, Council members have played a pivotal role in advancing many of SFU’s priorities by offering insights, advocacy, and leadership through committee service and consultation. Highlights include:

• Revitalizing the Outstanding Alumni Awards  to better reflect and celebrate the diversity of SFU’s growing alumni population and uphold SFU’s values of inclusivity and sustainability
• Nominating SFU’s next Chancellor, a key ambassador and ceremonial leader, for the 2026 selection
• Recommending alumni for Order-in-Council positions to the Â鶹ÊÓƵBoard of Governors
• Championing the Excellence in Teaching Award recognizing outstanding educators who elevate the Â鶹ÊÓƵlearning experience.

Giving voice to the Â鶹ÊÓƵexperience

As senior volunteers embedded across SFU’s ecosystem, Council members are uniquely positioned to offer authentic perspectives rooted in their Â鶹ÊÓƵjourneys. They regularly engage with senior leadership, the Board of Governors, and institutional partners—ensuring alumni voices are heard at the highest levels.

From Quebec to California, these dedicated ambassadors represent Â鶹ÊÓƵat events, connect with our alumni across regions, and amplify SFU’s mission and impact through their personal and professional networks.

Their commitment is a powerful reminder: when alumni give back—through time, talent or leadership—they help advance a more inclusive, sustainable, and connected future for SFU.
