Why am I being charged for the Health and Dental Plan?
Students are automatically enrolled in the Health and Dental Plan (HDP) because the university requires all enrolled students have medical insurance coverage.
You are required to pay the HDP fees if:
- You did not opt out during the change-of-coverage period (please refer to the website), or
- You attempted to opt out but did not receive an opt-out approval email from Alumo.
If you have equivalent health and dental coverage through another plan, you may opt out of the GSS Health and Dental Plan during the Change-of-Coverage Period through .
Your student account will be adjusted only after Alumo approves your opt-out request and sends you a confirmation email.
For details about acceptable coverage, see the Medical Insurance section for undergraduate students or graduate students, as applicable.
Do I need to opt out of the Health and Dental Plan every year?
Yes, you must opt-out every year, even if you have opted-out before.
How can I get my Health and Dental Plan charges removed?
To have HDP charges removed from your student account, you must have successfully opted out during the change-of-coverage period (please refer to the website).
- If you received an opt-out approval email from Alumo, you may ignore the HDP charges on your student account. Pay your balance minus the HDP fees. Here is how to check your balance.
- If you did not opt out during the change-of-coverage period or if your opt-out request is denied, you are responsible for paying the full HDP amount.
When will I receive my refund after successfully opting out of the Health and Dental Plan?
It may take 15–20 business days for the adjustment to appear on your student account.
Why are the Health and Dental Plan charges no longer showing on my student account?
If the Health and Dental Plan charges no longer appear on your student account, your opt-out request has been approved and the adjustment has been processed. Your outstanding balance reflects the updated amount.
Will I be charged monthly interest on my Health and Dental Plan fees if I’ve opted out?
If you’ve received an opt-out approval email from Alumo, you won’t be charged monthly interest on the Health and Dental Plan fees. You can pay your student account balance minus the Health and Dental Plan fees.
