Review of existing methods for controlling heat pumps to provide energy flexibility under time-varying electricity prices, direct load control, and increased self-consumption.

His research interests focus on the operation and expansion of distribution networks under increasing electrification, with particular emphasis on demand response, optimization, and reinforcement learning.

He holds an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where he was also supervised by Dr. Mariana Resener. His master's research developed a method using real utility interruption data to assess distribution-system reliability and estimate reliability improvements associated with network expansion alternatives. He received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where he developed a power converter for LED applications.
